We sat down with Perry Bindelglass, one of our FlyNYON frequent flyers,
(@bindelglassphoto on Instagram) to talk with him about his many experiences flying with us, his passion for photography and more!
Perry resides in Northern New Jersey. He loves to travel and use his photography to tell a story, to shine a light on a worthy cause, organization or person whenever he can. Perry lived in Israel for a year on a volunteer program and was also the photographer for the Jewish Agency for Israel.
Q: How long have you been taking photos/ what got you into photography?
A: My fathers love of photography is probably what got me interested. I have had a camera in my hand all my life and started shooting professionally since about 2004.
Q: What do you do for a living?
A: I am an international photographer. Photographing a wide array of subjects from families to heads of state and non profit work globally.
Q: How many times have you been up in a helicopter?
A: 5 or 6 times
Q: If you could fly and take photos over any city, which would you choose and why?
A: I thought about this question for a long time. It is a tough one to choose just one. Rather than a city I would rather choose places with natural beauty! Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Niagra, rural Vietnam, areas of Iceland, the rice terraces of China, tulip fields in Holland and so on.
Q: What programs do you use to edit your photos?
A: Aperture (while I still can), Photoshop and Lightroom
Q: What do you shoot with when you go up?
A: My Nikon D4 is my primary body and 24-70, 70-200 my primary lenses
Q: What’s your favorite building to see from the air?
A: I think I am still figuring out what my favorite is. I do love the Empire State Building. I would like to spend more time with the Chrysler Building as it has always been a favorite of mine.
Q: What was your most memorable FlyNYON Flight?
A: So far my first was. As it was the first time I was able to fly like that over Manhattan. But there will be many more flights!!
Q: Who are some of your favorite Instagrammers / photographers?
A: @FlyNYoN and @NYonAIR of course and @NATGEOTRAVEL and @NATGEO as well as many others. My friends post of lot of great and inspiring images as well and those are some of my favorites.
