A little bit about Paul: He was born in Mt. Kisco, NY and now lives in Closter, NJ with his wife Leiani.
Paul has always been into the arts. His first love was music, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz performance. His love for photography was rekindled years ago through traveling, thus transitioning into the talented photographer and Instagram star he is today.
Q: How long have you been taking photos/ what got you into photography?
I have been taking photos for 7-8 years. My interest was rekindled when my wife and I traveled to the Santa Fe area for a wedding. Armed with my little point and shoot camera, I was hooked.
Q: What do you do for a living?
I am a photographer. I have my own company, Paul Seibert Photography. I cover anything from lifestyle family shoots, weddings, commercial businesses, and aerial photography.
Q: How many times have you been up in a helicopter?
I’ve been up eight or nine times now.
Q: What is your most memorable FlyNYON Flight?
Man…that’s tough. I did an air to air flight where we were being documented for Heliops Magazine. On that flight, I met some other contributors that day who I greatly admire. BUT, my first night flight was so amazing, I guess I’d have to choose that.
Q: If you could do a photo flight over any city in the world, where would it be and why?
I’m really fascinated with San Francisco. The architecture, the topography, and of course, the fog.
Q: What programs do you use to edit your photos?
I use a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop
Q: What do you shoot with when you go up?
I usually take two bodies and lenses. The Canon 5D Mark III, and the first generation 5D. I usually use a Canon 16-35mm and the 70-200mm lenses. I LOVE detail shots, but I also really enjoy the epic nature of a wide angle view of our beautiful city.
Q: What’s your favorite building to see from the air?
I really love the Chrysler Building. There are so many things to photograph on that building, I get something different every time I fly.
Q: Who are some of your favorite Instagrammers / photographers?
@greg.rox.photography, @dalton922, @dario.nyc, @bbsinghphotos, @gmathewsva, @chief770, @papakila, @gemini_digitized, @roon, @mjinnyc, @mc_gutty, and @thewilliamanderson. Honestly, I could go on for days. The amount of talent that I admire, and draw from on a daily basis, is what fuels and inspires me to be the best I can be.
Thanks for sitting down with us Paul!
