Meet The Team! Director of Flight Operations - Christi Brown
The FlyNYON team is filled with talented and interesting people, like our Director of Flight Operations – Christi Brown!
We sat down with Christi to find out a little more about her impressive career as a pilot, what she does for fun and more!
Christi was born in Pittsburgh, PA but spent the good majority of her life in Northern and Central California before moving all over the country! She has always loved the outdoors, traveling and adventuring in general.
When she took her first helicopter ride in Africa she fell in love and never looked back. “My other hobbies include running, skydiving and urban hiking in NYC (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!)”
Q: How long have you been flying?
A: I’ve been flying airplanes since 2003 and helicopters for the past 4 years.
Q: What are your favorite cities to fly over?
A: New York, of course! Also, the central coast of California is stunning and where I first learned to fly.
Q: What is your go to music to listen to while flying?
A: Favorite flying music of the moment includes Bob Moses, Rufus du Sol and Mysto & Pizzi.
Q: If not a pilot, what would you be doing?
A: I spent my first three post-grad years as an environmental engineer for Chevron. I’d probably still be doing that in some far off land if I didn’t make the jump to flight school.
Q: Tell us something people might not expect about you?
A: I used to hate big cities and I NEVER in a million years thought I would be living in New York. But now that I’m here I don’t think I will ever leave!
Q:What is your favorite part about working for FlyNYON?
A: There are so many favorite parts actually… But I have to say I love the excitement and the energy from my passengers. Many of them have never been in a helicopter and to go their first time without doors is just wild. I love sharing the experience of my bird’s eye view with people because it is magical and really puts things into perspective.
Q: Favorite buildings in NYC to see from the sky?
A: Favorite buildings include the Chrysler Building, the castle in Central park, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
