Now you might be pondering, “what’s so special about doors-off anyways?” Well, for one, flying in a doorless helicopter guarantees any photos taken are free from the bane of photographers near and far: glare. Being free of windows ensures the shots have a professional finish to them and are of quality. Moreover, fliers have the whole horizon available to them, and can lean out to achieve that perfect shot, only being limited by the direction the helicopter is currently facing. Finally, riders feel as if they are flying, as if there is nothing between them and the ground beneath them–something that is sorely negated by the confines of a doored helicopter. That is why here at FlyNYON, we believe that every customer should have the chance to truly soar, and why we endorse riding doorless!
As to what it feels like when you’re finally up above? Veritably transcendental. You’re torn between marveling at how far humanity has come technology-wise, and how everything and anything is achievable. As the wind whips through the cabin and you feel it caress your face, a jolt of energy works its way up from the base of your spine and every single care in the world slips away, leaving nothing but you, the deep blue sky and a newfound appreciation for life.
Now, to the main event: Baghdad by the Bay! San Francisco is a bustling commercial and cultural super city, located in northern California. As such, this remarkable metropolis boasts many grandiose monuments, giving the place a one-of-a-kind flavor. However, viewing these attractions from the air rather than from the ground turns what would normally be a great experience into an incomparable one! Listed below are some potential sites for your next FlyNYON trip:
Golden Gate Bridge
Built in 1937, this 80 year old bridge is widely considered to be the most photographed one in the world. This red beauty aids in crossing over one hundred thousand vehicles daily! Fly over her as the infamous California fog rolls across, making for stupendous photo opportunities. The roiling Pacific Ocean contrasts beautifully with the bridge’s crimson hue, and both are even further complemented by the radiant sun casting down upon them both; feel the salty ocean air whip around you and hear the gulls cry out to each other, further completing the real-life diorama. It is no wonder why many consider the Golden Gate Bridge to be the queen amongst bridges.
If the Golden Gate Bridge is the queen amongst bridges, then surely Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary is the king amongst haunted locations! Float over the island, and observe the odd harmony between the overgrown greenery and the dilapidated edifice that was once host to several notorious 20th century criminals like Al Capone and George “Machine Gun” Kelly! Feel your hairs stand on end as the haunted vibe emanates from the island itself. Alcatraz is widely purported to be one of, if not the most haunted location in the United States. Believer in the paranormal or not, it has to be admitted that there is something about Alcatraz that gives it that frightening characteristic, which makes for stupendous pictures.
A teeming shopping center located at the end of Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 is a long-time favorite for both tourists and locals alike. As the helicopter soars over this famed boardwalk, glimpse the ever growing colony of sea lions perched atop rafts, basking in the San Fran sun! Spot the gilded carousel and the children riding the painted horses, squealing with delight. Peer around and catch the multitude of shops and restaurants and people milling in and out of them, but best of all, catch a great big lungful of that sweet salt water air!
Situated on a peninsula, the town of Tiburon,–Spanish for “shark”–is flanked by the ocean on all sides, turning what would otherwise be a dull town into the perfect dreamy landscape ideal for a bird’s eye photography session! Fly over the Corinthian Yacht Club, a historic marina, and marvel at the fleet of boats of all shapes and sizes! Whiz about Tiburon’s coastline, and take shot after shot of the colorful houses, all of which have a dock attached to them, reminiscent of Venice. Overall, this quaint little town will blow flyers away.
A historical site, Coit Tower was erected thanks to the generous posthumous donation of Lady Lillie Hitchcock Coit, as part of her last request to beautify the city of San Francisco. Construction finished in 1933; the tower is said to resemble a fireman’s hose, as a subtle nod to Lady Coit’s love of firefighters, albeit it is also said to be a mere coincidence. Coincidence or not, the tower is impressively built in an art deco style, and is a massively tall structure, dwarfing the giant trees surrounding it.
A wealthy town combining hillside with seashore, this picturesque little burg sure has much to look at! Take a ride on our open door helicopters and discover the old-world houseboat communities, huddled together and so vibrantly colorful they resemble a quilt. Coast over the azure waters and watch the sun shine down on the Golden Gate Bridge, just a short distance away. Or perhaps turn head and wonder at the architectural beauty most all Sausalito residencies possess–these houses are often considered some of the most luxurious in the area, if not the entire state! Fly over the terraces of the rich and famous, and wonder if you’re in a dream!
Finally, as a perfect ending to the flight, glide over the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, a stretch of protected land spanning over 80,000 acres! The park encompasses wild grasslands, national monuments, sandy beaches, World World II army posts, and colossal ancient tree forests. Due to its many amenities and features, it is no wonder the National Recreation Area is host to millions of visitors a year. What area will you decide to take a trip over? Perhaps you’re a history buff and want to see the army posts for yourself, or maybe you’re one with nature and are hankering to spot some wildlife? Well, wherever our helicopter rotors may take you, do not forget to bring a camera, as the photo opportunities are to die for!
